Mike Johnson
I have been in the home electronics business since 1997 when High-Definition technology was in its early infancy. I started my career at 16 years old, working for Best Buy as a salesman. I would take side jobs after work setting up new equipment for my customers while learning and growing along the way.
In 2001 I wanted a change of pace so I moved to Florida and began working as a “Regional Electronics Display Specialist”. My job was to travel to different stores setting up new displays and maintaining older ones. When a new store would open I was responsible for everything from wiring the building to installing and programming the new displays and demo units.
I moved back to Michigan in 2003, and in 2004 I left Best Buy to work for the company that handled their installation services. I traveled all over the country installing audio/video systems in a variety of environments, both commercial and residential. After two and half years I decided it was time to venture off on my own, which brings us to the present.
I wanted to start something where I had the freedom and ability to be creative and think outside the box. Rather than installing cookie cutter systems that major retailers push, my goal is to right-fit the customer. I want to design systems that work for them, are simple to operate, and are able to grow with their needs.
I founded “Just Press Play” in early 2007 with the goal of providing systems that are not only fun but easy to use, and I take great personal pride and interest in what we do. I have a small crew of dependable people who I have known, trusted and worked with for many years. People often ask if we like what we do, and my response is always “Are you kidding me? We get to play with power tools and electronics all day. How could we NOT like this?”
We strive to do our very best, each contributing our years of experience and personal touch to deliver the ultimate home entertainment experience. Each system we design and install is custom made, and we would love the opportunity to build one for you.
